What is a Webring?
A webring is a group of web sites associated by a common theme. A navigation tool on each member site allows
"ring-surfers" to move between sites. The tool
for this particular ring allows surfers to move forward, backward, randomly, and
directly to any member site. Each member site is an entry point into the ring, so no one member of the ring is favored.

Ring Member Qualifications
Sites on this ring are dedicated, in whole or in part, to the various models of Celestron 5" (~125-mm), f/10
(~1250-mm) Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescopes (SCT). Models includes the
Celestron C5, C5+, G5 and NexStar 5. Sites must contain original material
pertaining to, or generated by, a Celestron 5" SCT. This material could include hardware
tips, repairs, modifications, reviews, visual object reports, sketches, images
and the like. Sites should not merely consist of a list of links to like sites
-- that's what the webring is for! Just surf our current
membership to get a taste of what we are about.
Joined sites must maintain the navigation tool (below)
or an image link to the tool somewhere on the entry page: it wouldn't be a ring if ring-surfers enter
a site and can't easily continue on. Additionally the site must be "family oriented"
and not contain offensive material. The Ringmaster is the sole judge of these qualifications and will "marry" or "divorce" sites at will.

Why Join?
This ring will attract viewers interested in your site's content. This can increase your site's exposure on the
Internet and is especially helpful to new sites as it gives them an instant "audience."
The Ring can thus serve as an "incubator" for new sites that are
"thin" on viewers. Many Celestron 5" SCT pages have links to like sites, which must be manually updated as pages appear and disappear on the web. The database of sites in this ring will take care of that for you! The
"List
Site or Ring Hub" link on the navigation tool displays these sites with
their member-entered descriptions. It costs
nothing to join. You do not have to put any banners on your site besides the ring navigation tool.
|
| The
differing Navigation Tools on each member's site reflects the corporate ownership of WebRing at the time they joined. But all
members can convert to the latest version of the tool. |

Join
Your Site to the Ring! and get a neat
ring navigation graphic like the ones here. On our Ring join page you'll be asked a few simple questions including: web page URL, e-mail,
and site description. After submitting you'll get an automated confirmation e-mail
-- so enter your real e-mail, not the
"NoSpam".
As of this writing, the Ring is
transitioning from Yahoo!'s oversight to a new organization called
WebRing.com. All sites applying for membership to the Celestron 5"
SCT Ring must first become members of WebRing. The following instructions
will show you how to become a WebRing member and reach the application
screen for this Ring. Because not all the bugs have been worked out of the
new system, the details of the signup process may change from what is
indicated below. Existing members must follow a migration procedure:
e-mail the Ringmaster
for migration details.
Hit
this Join
link. (Due to the transition away from Yahoo!, some of the Join
links on our member's pages take you to the old Yahoo! WebRing, so it is
best to use the link here).
If
you are not currently signed into WebRing, you'll get a screen asking you
to sign in or sign up. (A Yahoo! ID/Password will not automatically work
anymore.)
Existing
WebRing users: enter your ID/Password and press the Login button. If
this does not forward you to the Celestron 5" SCT signup page (it
currently doesn't), come back here and press the Join
link again.
New
WebRing users: start the WebRing sign up procedure as directed on
screen. At the end, (as of this writing, the application process ends
with a mostly blank screen that says "Welcome Guest" at top)
click the "Webring Home" link at the top of any WebRing page
and make sure your ID shows (not "Guest") at top of that page.
Bookmark that page (it may show with a 'Y!' icon) as your WebRing start
page (use the "My Rings" link at top of this start page to
find your Rings). Come back here and hit the Join
link again.
At
this point, if you are signed into WebRing, you'll see your WebRing ID at
the top of the Celestron 5" SCT WebRing join page. The correct page
includes a link back to this page. Press the join button (as of this
writing it says: "Get Started") at the bottom of that
page.
Fill
out the application. Make sure to enter the URL that contains your main
Celestron 5" SCT page -- this may differ from your topmost page.
Watch your e-mail for a reply; the RingMaster will give you further
instructions and may have questions about your site.
If a long-time passes without a response to the form, e-mail the Ringmaster
stating your URL and submit date.
